OUR COLORS. A representation only; actual colors depend on the porosity and content of your slab
Color Selection

Acid stains come in a number of earth-toned hues (as shown above) and as illustrated in the Galleries on this website.  The colors above are produced from proprietary blends of Kemiko stains.  We are also skilled at using acid-etching stains from other manufacturers, including BRICKFORM, Butterfield, Scofield, Chemcoat, and HC Infusion, and are happy to apply these upon request.

Under normal conditions, acid-etching stains do NOT chip or peel or "walk" off (as acrylic or pigment based stains tend to do). The special mixture of acid, mineral salts and wetting agents reacts chemically with the lime in the concrete and adapts to the unique mineral composition of your slab.

Because each slab is different, we can NOT match our stains to a particular color swatch.  Instead,  we apply samples (typically three) to an area of  your slab that will later be concealed (like under the kitchen cabinets). This is the BEST way to predict how a stain will look on your concrete. For this reason, many of our clients prefer to select their wall paints, cabinets, countertops and fabrics AFTER they make a color selection from their samples.

FINISHES: We offer high gloss, semi-gloss or matt finishes for residential purposes. We also offer an epoxy/urethane finish for commercial settings with high traffic or medical uses.

Earthen Umber: A popular choice in 2006 and 2007.
Earthen umber (shown in this designer owned Darling Home) is a favorite among architects and interior designers. To complement the field color, "almost black" was selected for the dining room border.  Before we stain your slab, we place samples on your concrete so you can tell how the stains will react on YOUR slab.  Click either image for larger view.

Scoring and other decorative touches

Many of our clients prefer a solid stained floor, with no additional pattern or decorative elements. They feel that the motion and mottling from the stain alone provides the perfect canvas for their furnishings.  Others choose a scored pattern -- such as a 3x3' or 4'x4' grid on a diagonal.  And, still others ask for an occasional second-color border or even a decorative element (like a compass rose or  Texas star)  in the foyer or dining room. Visit the galleries on this site for ideas.
