BELOW The next two sets of BEFORE and AFTER patios below illustrate how staining looks after being applied to existing concrete. The last picture (at bottom of page) shows texturing, staining, and borders done after the existing concrete was first overlayed with a topcoat. (This is done when the original concrete is crumbly or stained and not a good candidate for direct acid staining.)

The picture at right illustrates what can be done when the original concrete is not a good candidate for staining (perhaps it was old, stained, worn, or crumbly). In these cases, a topcoat or overlay can be applied over the old surface. We then can texture, stain, score or add other decorative touches.
